OK this is probably just another dumb question of mine .. here it is !

I received my Fingerprint Notice in the Mail today. It is scheduled for 11/14/06 @ 10.00 AM and I am not able to go since my Husband is in the Field with his Company and I don't have anyone to get my kids from school.
Anyway ...
It says if you are unable to make the Appointment, I may go on any following Wednesday at the same time noted below as long as I get it done before 02/06/2007.

So if I want to go the 22nd of November at 10.00 AM I am able to right ??

If that's what it says, then..., well, they usually don't lie on official documents :)

If it were me, I'd try to find a neighbor or a friend to take care of the kids if at all possible. If not, then I'd follow their instructions to a "T".

Our fingerprints were taken at a Dallas Service Center. The instructions on those (mine, my wife's (both for N-400s) and my daughter's (for a green card replacement)) were different from yours -- they said "If you can't make it, write an explanation and a suggestion for a better time on this notice and mail it back to [Address of Service Center]"

My daughter couldn't make it (it was scheduled during final exam week at school), so we followed the procedure. A week later we received the same notice back with a new date/time.

So, my conclusion (given my large sample size (1)), is that if you follow what they say, you should be OK.

Fingerprinting is a rather casual/bulk process - you get herded into a room and wait for your name (or number) to be called. I'm sure the process can deal with a little week to week slop.

Make sure to moisturize your hands nicely in the days before you show up - you want nice fingerprints.

Good luck

Good luck

And also make sure there are no cuts on any of the fingers. Careful while handling that knife! Better yet don't touch that knife till you are done with FP(LOL)

Looks like you and I have the same timeline.

Ladybuggy is your husband in the military? Call the MP of SP station and ask if they can do your fingerprints, it will save you money and time. But in other hand if your letter said you can go the next Weds. then you don't have a problem just take the letter with you.

Yes Gordi my Husband is Military and we live on a Base. I am sure they take Fingerprints but would it be ok with the USCIS ? I mean just for Fingerprinting I have to drive 2 Hours and 15 Min. ... if that is what I have to do .. I'll do it but if I can go down to the MP Station heck I'll do that, lol.

I don't know about your case but we are overseas so I went to the MPF building and they took my fingerprints for free. I didn't have any problem with USCIS and the best part I didn't have to paid the $70.

I did my GC Application overseas (Germany) but I never had to give any Fingerprints back then. The only Fingerprint I have ever given was my Thumbprint at my Port of Entry which was Minneapolis.

I don't care. I just pay the $70 and drive over 2 hours there and 2 hours back. I just want to get things started since I had that over 30 day delay !

I understand you, money can't buy the benefits of naturalization. Which base in Germany? My husband was stationed in Ramstein but we lived in Landstuhl for 4 years. I love that country hopefully we can go back someday.

You can walk in early (on a Saturday)

Mine was scheduled the coming wednesday. I walked in last saturday and explained that I have a business meeting at work at the scheduled time and that I wanted to have the FP taken earlier (4th Nov). The guys were extremely pleasant, helpful and happy to oblige (this was San Jose, CA). I finished my FP a few days ahead.
BTW/ when I did my GC, I went in 3 weeks earlier for the FP too and got it done. This may be worth trying in your case.

Tip: most people show up on the hour (example at 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM etc) because their notice says so. So, I went in after noon at 12:30 and there was nobody there and they took my FP within 10 minutes of entering. Good luck.
