Hi guys.. I just got thru to a nice lady.. I just said I wanted to change my address.. she asked for my eac number
, asked the new address. Then without my asking told me that my file is with an officer since may 25. I asked her
when can I expect anything? she told me in 2 or 3 weeks.. then she asked my spouse\'s eac number.. told her..
she said as soon as a decision is made, it will be mailed to this new address.. I will call again next week to make
sure of the address change..

question: will they forward i485 approval letter courtesy copy to a forwarding address? just in case..

i think immigration letters have to be sent to the correct address otherwise they will be returned back to INS.

Just to let you know, The post office never forwards FEDERAL Government official business mail and they are returned to the sender if the mail goes to a wrong address. Just make sure of the address change with the IIO.

Any way your lawyer will get the official copy !! So, why to worry if you don\'t get the courtesy copy ...

Thanks guys for the replies.. I will call again next week just to confirm that they have the right address.. looking
at everybody else\'s experiences when it comes to relying on what a iio says, I am not giving too much
importance to the 2 to 3 week time frame she gave.. I guess now is the time when we should NOT get frustrated!

last time i had my address change, my wife\'s EAD was in the pipeline, and it came at the new address, after I gave it on the phone, so you should be ok.

you have to be on a redial phone. usually in less than 10 minutes i get through. maximum i have waited is 30 mins and then gave up.

Can you please post the phone number. I called 1-800-375-5283 and the INS lady told me to take the copy of I485 and send it to them with a note. Till now I was under the impression that we can do the change of address by calling this number.

Thanks for the info ! my PD is 9/30/98 and ND 11/99 No RFE yet, so I am assuming mine would be with an officer too ,maybe they will send a RFE !

dsr - I called the phone number on the 485 receipt notice i.e. 1-802-527-4913. Then press 1, then choose to talk to an
iio and (WHEN you get to the iio) , tell them that you want to change your address and give your EAC number and your
spouse and kids\' EAC numbers too (if you have a spouse and kids and their cases are pending too). Sometimes it takes very
long just to reach the menu giving busy tone for a long time. I think you have to call between 8 and 4 EST to talk to an
IIO. Best of luck!

I am not seeing as many RFEs being issued recently as before.. but then I have not been able to visit this site often
recently. any ideas others?
