Just talk to IIO to confirm my change of address.
Here is how the conversation was.

IIO : This is so and so.
vbk : Hi, This is so and so and my receipt number is EAC ....
IIO : Ok, let me pull your case
vbk : OK.
IIO : Please spell your first and last name

I spelled my first & last name

IIO : Middle initial.

I gave my middle initial.

IIO : How can I help you?
vbk : I Just want to confirm change of address.
IIO : What's your address
I said my current address.

IIO : Looks good. We have your latest address in the system which should not be a problem.

vbk : thank you.
IIO : would you like to know status on your case.
vbk : sure...

2 minutes silence.

IIO : Everything looks good on your case. It's not assigned yet.
vbk : How long do you think it will take. ( I knew the answer, but this was a question to check his IQ)

IIO : these days it's taking long to approve such type of case, however you may hear something in 2 weeks.
vbk : 2 weeks?

IIO : yes, we have reduced the time of special check.
vbk : (my eyes are wide open. I don't know what is this special check).

IIO : that's not guranteed but you may hear.
vbk : That's great. would you mind if I ask you to verify address for my wife?

IIO : what's her receipt number?
vbk : EAC ...
IIO : Name?
vbk : gave her name.

IIO : Yes we have her current address in the system. Her status is same as yours.

vbk : All right. great. So hopefully I will hear something soon (May be RFE, LOL).

IIO : sure.
vbk : Thanks a lot.
IIO : you are welcome (?). have a nice day. bye.
vbk : bye.

I know 2 weeks answer has no ground for him to say. However I am happy about my current address is in their system.

I think the special check they are talking about is the IBIS check to see the applicants have any problems or cases thats gonna be a problem. I presume they must have someone doing all the checks for each applicant, or the percentage was reduced to a certain amount maybe from 20% of applicants to 10% of applicants. Just my 2 cents thought...

what?

Your case is NOT assigned yet and you will hear something in 2 weeks????

This IIO must be under some influence.

that's what he said.

ric2,

believe me that's what he said. I know they give any random answer. As a matter of fact status on case was not my intention. I just wanted to verify change of address. He himself ask "would you like to know status on your case?". Obviously answer was "YES".

Regards,

I would not take it seriously....

We had a bad experience with a male IIO in the last few days....

Here is the situation....

I filed my 485 and moved to another apartment in the same area.
My company sent a letter to INS about my address change. They
assured me that that letter will take care of my wife's application
too..... but after reading some posting about an RFE which was
raised on a spouse's/dependent's application where the address
on the primary applicant's application was different, I asked my
wife to call up and check her address..... she called up and spoke
to an male IIO who was not cooperative at all... finally he scared
hell out saying that even my address was not upto date (which
I confirmed few months back)....... I called up again and spoke
to a nice lady IIO who said that my address is upto date and
changed my wife's address (YES... I could not believe my ears)....
saying that her address is not upto date......

Moral of the story..... it is better to confirm twice/thrice if any one
is changing their address over the phone......... I am gonna call
again (ask my wife to do the same) and confirm the address again

So PEOPLE..... beware.... some jack-asss male IIO is out there
who is playing pranks with us....

vbk, thanks for your info. We have seen some Oct. cases transferring to local office. Maybe they are touching Oct. cases. Let's see. Hope we can get approval soon!
