Just spoke to IIO about RFE response: What does this mean?

I was issued an RFE on 29 March. The response was sent to INS on 11 April. They received it on 12 April. But till yesterday, the AVM was not updated. I just spoke to an IIO. She said that they received the response to RFE on 12 April. The response has to be matched to my file and forwarded to an officer. What does this mean? I thought that if an RFE is issued, the case is already assigned to an officer.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

IIO probably means that he has to connect your RFE response

to your I485 file and forward the paperwork to the IIO. This is assuming that the I485 paperwork is kept in some pensing shelf (for RFE cases) and once reply to RFE is received, it is connected to the I485 papers and h/o to the concerned officer. I am sure this takes a few days.

Relax, your approval should be coming in 3-4 weeks.

Usually when rfe issued by offcier,he will note it in Yr 485 file and the file will move to rfe shelf.Once Yu replied RFE,it will be collected by mail room personnel and based on yr wsno,it will be attached to Yr file and file will be moved from rfe shelf to the same adjudication officer for adjudication
