Hi friends,
My I-485 RD is 07/31/02 - Lin-01-263-xxxxx. We recently changed our residence. I read through all the postings here and was skeptical about calling Nebraska and talking to an IIO.
With determination to wait I dialed 402-323-7830 (10 minutes back). I got through to the AVM in the first try. I checked my
I-485 application (still says processing has resumed), EAD and AP (2nd time we have filed on August 02). No status change on EAD and AP. I pressed 0 to talk to the IIO. Within 2 clicks I heard a voice on the other side.
I told the IIO about change of address. She was courteous and patient. She changed address for us in 6 different forms. Mine and my wife's I-485 + I-131 and I-765 applications. She was very helpful and was able to do all this in about 5 minutes.
After all the address changes, I asked her about my I-485. She told me that NSC is processing applications within a 6 month window from Jan 2001 to July 2001. There is no specific order for their processing. As case workers become free they take on available applications. She told me that my case July 31, 2001 should take atleast a month.
Guys - I had a very different impression of NSC and IIO. But after this incident, I feel comfortable that NSC is doing everything possible to ease the pain of immigrants like us.
Keep your hopes alive and we will see light at the end of the tunnel.
