Just get PreOPT card, need to expedite PostOPT application

I just get my Pre-OPT card, and will start working on July 1st. But my Pre-OPT card will expire on August 8. I need to apply my Post-OPT right now. My boss don't want to wait any more. If I can not get my card Before August 8th, I need to stop my work and wait....

My question, how can I expedite my application? Can I send my application with a request letter for expedition and my boss's letter? Any suggestions?

Ken,

I would suggest that you attach your offer letter to your OPT application when you first send it in. You can also send in a letter from your employer - the letter should make the case that you needs to get your card ASAP e.g. financial loss to the company, financial loss to the employee etc.

I'm not sure if these 2 methods work. Officially, they're not supposed to; our International Office claims these letters do not aid the application. However the reality appear to be different. It has worked for several people on the message boards so there's no harm in trying.

I really don't know if my boss will wait for another time. My job offer has been delayed from Jun.1st to Jul.1st. So another OPT application means another "Overly-Patient Testing"......

That's what they told me too, but they went ahead and request expedition for me anyway. My adviser said "Well, it surely can't hurt, so why not?"

Anyway, Ken, which service center are you sending your request to? I know TSC is a dog.
