Just get laid-off, please help!!!

It is too bad, I got laid-off today. Our whole department got closed.
My RD for I-485 is 12/20/2001. EAD & AP renewal RD is 9/27/02 but still pending. Our company used a law firm to handle our immigration cases. I am going to talk with HR tommorrow. Do you guys think that the company might terminate my EAD&AP renewal and/or terminate my I-485 process?

Please give me suggestions.

HR has the option

of not informing anyone. If they do, you will get RFE, but they will NOT deny it outright. You have 87 days to respond to RFE. There is a maximum 20% chance of getting RFE (might be lower-based on rupnet data).

They will not cancel anything and the I-140 will still be valid as per Murthy etc. What if they give you unpaid vacation? Make sure you have paystubs for last 6 months and W-2.

They can not do anything about EAD/AP, your I-485 status is pending. You should see what they have done with EAD/ AP, I got my renewal in 3 weeks for which I had an RD of 10/15. Did they send it in at all? If not, you can do it yourself - it's cheap & easy, and the advice on this site helped me do the same.

Get IMMEDIATELY copies of I-485 receipt, H-1, old EAD card (both sides) , I-94 (both sides) from lawyer. Check w/ INS website to download I-765 PDF and follow instructions closely.

Try to find a job in the meantime....it's the best advice

Please check threads to find other advice on what you need for renewal, as I might be forgetting something.

I talked with HR today. But now I wish I had not given that call.
My company is a big one with several thousand people and they hire a law firm to handle all immigration cases. There are definately some mass. When the HR lady got my call, it seemed that she had not notified the attorney. She asked my laid-off day and told me they would notice the attorney today. They were not going to deny my case but they would not be reponsible for attorney fees.
It is fair to me. But if I did not give that call it was possible that I could still use that attorney untill I get the GC freely.
This is the first lesson I got.

A good news is that I received my AP renew approval notice from my attorney today( It is weird, I remember last time they sent to me directly). But the AVM and online still keep the old message.
Do not trust AVM and online.
This is my second lesson.

I hope I can get my new job ASAP. this is my only safe solution.
I hope we all can get GC approved soon.
