Hi everybody!
I really need your views on this one:
My husband (principal applicant) and I had our Medical Exam last May,2005, we have paid the Right Of Landing Fee and have complied to all the requirements that the visa officer has requested from us. Though they haven't asked for our passports yet (for visa issuance) we are expecting that they soon will and that we will get the visa early of next year since our Medical Results will be expiring on May,2006.
The thing is, I just learned that I'm 2 months pregnant now and my due date will be on July,2006. Currently, Im really confused of how my situation will affect our application. Please help, I really need your inputs on this one. Do we need to inform the embassy that Im pregnant?

Hi Katt,

Where did you apply from?

At this point you do not have to inform them. Everything depends on when you get passport request.

If you get passport request before the baby is born you have the following options:

1) You and your husband land in Canada and have the baby in Canada. This is the best option as you will not have to worry about sponsoring the baby. The only problem is getting health insurance in Canada. Some province in Canada like Ontario require that new permanent residents must have lived in the province for atleast 3 months to get health insurance. So if you are planning to have the baby in Canada you should consider about health insurance.

2) You and your husband land in Canada and then return to your home country to deliver the baby. In this situation you will have to sponsor the baby.

If the baby is born before you get passport request then you MUST inform the Canadian embassy handling your case about the new addition to your family. Also send the following documents and request them to add the baby to your application:

1) Certified copy of baby´s Birth Certificate;
2) Copy of Passport;
3) the second page of IMM0008;
4) Application fee - Please check
5) 4 photos;
6) Cover letter to inform CIC the birth of child - Mention your file number
7) Additional Family information (IMM 5406) form

If you get passport request within a couple of weeks of the delivery date and you feel that it is not possible for you to travel you can write a letter and explain your situation and inform the immigration official that you want to wait till the baby is born and want to add the baby to your application.
