and the lady, who was courteous, took down my details like 485 Receipt #, Alien #, Home Address, Daytime Phone #, and Country of Birth/Citizenship, and told me that the case has been assigned to an officer (though I don't quite believe that) and that I should receive a letter giving the case status within 3-4 weeks.
 
Case Assigned

Unless you speak to a tier 2 officer, you will not be able to find out if you case has been assigned to a officer but in next 3 to 4 weeks you will get a letter at home saying please allow BCIS 30 to 90 days for this type of case. Depending upon the text written in that letter you can guess if the case has been assigned or not.
Normally pending review menas it hasn't been assigned. Under review means it has been assigned to an officer.
