Yup I voted!
Beware guys the people who take your info and voter registration cards at the oath ceremony are pretty sick. They just take the cards but never register you. Our names are not there. We had to do the registration in a second round right then and there. Another caveat! They just ask you two questions. Are you a US Citizen and are you over 18? That is all. You have to say yes to both. I wonder what will happen if you bluff and vote (as an F-1 student you can go and bluff and what all they need is a picture ID like driving license). It is another matter your registration is not valid. But how about the vote itself? The machine counts it anyway. So if I am on F1 and going back to desh once for all, I can go and bluff and vote? Pretty sick technology actually.
Guess what? No computers or anything to check your name. Like desh, they will take a bunch of printed papers and check your last name. If there, go and vote else, register and vote. I wonder what if someone else goes now and tries to vote on my name. Or for that matter I myself go again. How would they know if I voted earlier not? At least in desh they put a black ink mark on your hand. Here there is nothing. Would they pull the entire registered list to see if you did it today or not? Quite a job in this high tech eon. Pretty low tech stuff. I did not do the first ballot correctly; so they tore it off and gave me another one. They do have an electronic scanner that gets fed with the ballot you fill in. Makes some "zip" sound and it is gone! That's about it. In my city there are no lines. All this took just 10 mins.
Anycase, just voted and came back. Will my party win? Let us see.
