Finally called the IIO today and was able to get through in less than 10 minutes! After dispensing with preliminaries I asked her the status of my application.
Apparently my application is being reviewed by the adjudication section in the "other" building and it should take 60-90 days for completion. When I asked her if it was assigned to an officer she said - "sort off". I asked her again later in the conversation and got the same response. Weird!!!
Also it seems that the officers are in some kind of a training session and that combined with the new security procedures seem to be the cause of the backlog.
Another point - regarding an earlier post in which the poster mentioned something to the effect that his file was placed on the "backlog" shelf because his fingerprint\'ing was delayed. I asked the IIO if my file was on this "backlog" shelf - and never really received a specific answer. She said they had received the fingerprints, everythings fine and the case is in review now.
Hmmm. I think my mind is as muddled as it was before the call!!!
