Joint account question

Hi people,
I was curious if before the interview we want to keep names consistent with all documents (meaning my wife is going to keep her maiden name, since it is on all her documents). How do we get a joint account, utility bills or joint credit card?
Can we just open a joint account with my last name? however it would create inconsistency?
How does that work?

You're making this a lot more complicated than it has to be. If you have an account, call up the institution and say you want to add your wife to the account - in some cases like ccs they will run a credit check on her. When they ask the name, tell them her maiden name. It is OK to have 2 people on an account with 2 last names.
