joining new emp when F1-H1 COS in process

I got a H1B from my employer in 2006. I did not use it and came to US on F1 VISA to study. I have now graduated and joined the same employer in my OPT. They have filed for my change of status from F1-OPT to H1 and the case is pending.

is it possible to quit and join a new employer at this stage?
