My Labor were filed as a software engineer. I changed my job after waiting 19 months in AOS. My new lawyer is about the send an employment letter response to a RFE. She is indicating my job title as Application Programmer. Do you guys think that might create a problem. Should I convince her to change the job title to software engineer. Thanks.

No Title

AC21 says \'similar\' occupational classification. Everyone understands that \'software engineer\' and \'application programmmer\' are similar (if not same) jobs.

You are fine - as long as do not you take a job in a radically different area - like switching from programming to sales, etc.

Dont take a chance

My LC said "software Engineer"....and i changed jobs....employment letter for RFE i gave "Lead Software Engineer" and VSC trasnfered my case to local INS for interview.

confusion between Software Engineer to Sr. S............

My company applied for Sr. Software Engineer while labor dept Approved as Software engineer (I think labor dept doesn\'t have anything as Sr. Softare Engineer).
Now I am changing job so should I keep my title as Software Engineer (As per labor approval) or I should keep Sr. Software Engineer(As my company applied).

Thanks

I think applications prohgrammer and software engineer are different the way ins views it. it all depends case to case.
software engineer is more senior and sophisticated position. if possible, try to keepyr title as close as possible.
also job duties would play an important role. If I were you, i will try to keep it as same as possible.
good luck.

Thanks Sweetie

I am trying to keep the same thing.
Another problem came across that my previling wages were 80,000 as per my old employer for my labor.
But as per california it is around 86,000.

This is going to be another diff for my salary.

Thanks

Up is good, down isn\'t necessarily bad!

If you\'re making MORE than your labor certification, you are in good shape. If both old and new salaries are above prevailing wage rate (used when they filed for your LCA), then you *should* be okay too, even if new salary is less than old salary.

In your case, you are making 6K more than your LCA, so you shouldn\'t worry at all.
