Hi All,

Sorry for asking a non-immigrant question. Its not totally a non-immigrant question as job is related to our GC process. Ok, I have been working at a client for quite a time now, and my project might get over in few weeks. I wanted to know how is the job market in the North East site for Microsoft Technologies. My total IT exp is 6 years with 4 years in the US.

I have an EAD and hence no need of H1, is that going to help me ?. Although I must say waiting for the GC is now a long process, its still processing Nov 01. Mine is March 02.

If any one of you has a fair idea about how the market is and what exactly is the trend.

EAD would defintely help as lot of companies say they cannot sponsor for a H1 as there are lot of people out there looking for jobs. But I have some friends who got jobs in Microsoft technologies. Looks like .Net has lot of opportunities. Catch a good professinal recruiting company, and with 6 years of experience you should be able to get a job
 
Thanks for the responses. I did visit the CNN site and the situation really looks grim :(. The unemployment rate has soared to the highest level it seems in April 03. I can't even hope to have market better in few months or this year.

Thanks for the .NET info, I too think there are few oppurtunities in DOT NET, but where exactly I am not sure. I have been applying to tons of places through DICE, MONSTER, ITJOBS, JUSTASPJOBS and so many other stupid sites too but no luck, mind you I don't require H1B.

Anyway guys please keep me posted if you know some better recruiting company, any good/bad experiences I would be grateful if you can share. I have been through all kinds of body shoppers here and know their business in and out, there are some better consulting/recruiting companies with direct clients, professional attitude and good $$$. I am trying to get know more of them.

I will keep posting my experiences too on this site. I really love this site, and love some of the desi guys posting, some of them really try out helping the other guys even without knowing them. Thats amazing when I know at work some desi's screw other desi's ass.

To the best of knowledge the IT job market is good. Overall job market is bad because of Airline and travel owes. All most of all my friends are in projects. .NET is definitely doing good. Pick up a couple of .NET books and prepare well. You should be getting job.
It's difficult to get job through applying on the Net. Best thing is call all your friends and ask them to submit your resume to their company's marketing folks.

It would be good, if someone or all of you having good contacts or company info can provide some detail.
Matter of fact i am also trying to find from last couple of months but no luck.
Dice, Monster, hotjobs and others not giving any good results.

Yes Satish is right, most of the times references work and not applying online through the tons of sites.

Some of the better companies I know are CIBER, CDI who have projects, these are american companies, hence no security but they have projects. But I have not had any luck in getting a job offer through them. I will let you guys know if I hear more.

BTW today is a slow day, no approvals :(. Looks like 2002 approvals will start only after few more months may be year end !!, that would mean 485 approvals will take 24 months now !. That sucks !!!
