I applied Canada PR a year ago and just got a letter to request medical exam and fingerprinting, AND current employment reference letter. The current employer they stated in the letter was my last RA job in University. But I could not find a job in my PHD field after I graduated last winter, and I am working in a totallly differenct field which I also hold a master's degree. Since I used my PHD filed in PR application and I am doing a totally different thing, how should I deal with the reference letter from current employer?
It's impossible for my to obtain a current employment reference from PHD field, and if I submit a reference letter from my current employer, in my master major, how would that affect my application? Do I have to start over the application again using my current working field?
Please share your experience and knowlege. Any inputs are appreciated.

You can send reference letters for your present job and the job you had on which you filed for PR. You can inform Canadian Consulate abt your present job and that shouldn't be a problem. You don't have to hide/reapply for just this reason. You are enough qualified for continuing ur PR application.

Thank you so much Mayank.
Another question is what if an applicant is pregnant when she is asked to do a medical exam? Xray can't be done to a pregnant woman. Can medical exam be postponed?

Call/fax them and see. Somebody in the forum had the same situation and his wife did medicals except X-ray and they did X ray after baby's birth.

Question:

I am pregnant and my doctor has advised me that I should not undergo x-rays while pregnant. What should I do? Can I be exempted from the x-ray requirement?

Answer:

Many women prefer not to undergo x-rays while pregnant. Our office respects this preference, however, you are not exempt from this requirement. Once the baby is born, please go to the doctor and have the x-ray portion of the medical exam completed. Your file will remain active until after you have given birth. Remember to inform the Consulate of the birth of your baby, and provide a copy of the baby's birth certificate.
