when a person changes jobs during I-485 process -
what are the pros and cons of informing INS

Also generally there are people who have had rfe for employer pay stubs and employment letter

Is this because they have not submitted one or INS decides to reconfirm this

Lets have a discussion on these topics

Changing job during 485 is definetly tricky, you are fine if you don\'t get RFE and
your case is approved, what happens if you get RFE - then we talk about lots of
IFs/ELSEs and buts, like
    1) he/she should try to get employment in same category,
    2) he/she should inform INS immediately about job change,
    3) must have letter from sponsoring company, where the company
        should say that they will hire him in future.

Getting RFE, I am not sure but it seems that people who have not submitted
pay-stuff/co.letter during 485 are the one who get this kind of RFEs, here I
don\'t understand why INS is asking for W2 in way of RFE.

Can you expain a little bit more about the same category?
What if I am a programmer now then get a software engineer job. Am I in the same category?

I think programmer/software engineer does not make any difference,
technically your job profile should be the same as before(while you filed your GC),
practically there should not be drastic difference in the title.
 
Re. system engineer

I am not sure of this but I know one of my friend who is having
title of Programmer/Analyst and working as unix admin and later
on he was promoted as systems engineer.
