January statistics

USCIS released January statistics. For the first time, the green line(approved) has crossed over the blue line(recieved). And the red line(pending) continued to drop. If just look at the red line, the picture is not very bad. Let's look at the numbers. If the red line will be symmetrical, it peaked at 9/2003. It may take a year for the curve to drop to the 9/2002 level. Then by 9/2004, the red line would drop to a level, with accumulated cases at 4,500,000.
For Juanary the total received are around 500,000. And 130,000 are EADs that have to be processed rightway. Let's assume that 200,000 has to be processed rightway, then each month 300,000 new cases should be put into the waiting line. In around 15 months, that would accumulate into 4,500,000 pending cases, equal to the number of total accumulated cases at that time. So the conclusion is if you file your cases at 9/2003, the waiting time may be just 15 months.

zhang102,
I wish I too were an optimist like you so as to forget the pain of waiting. Our FP expired long time back and wishing some magic to happen so as 2nd FP to be triggered ASAP.

many of us in this thread have crossed 15 months by now in 485....hope to see our approvals soon...

Here is statistic of 485 numbers since last 2 years

The statistics shows a graph of ALL types of applications.

So i had prepared an excel which tracks 485s in particular.
Refer to the attached Excel which gives the stats for last 2 years.

Considering the last 4 months, I would say from current trend, the backlog is not increasing or decreasing to a big extent.
i.e. at this rate I am not expecting the processing time to come down so quickly.
There is an average of 536 applications per month reduced in last 4 months. This is very low if there are 1,236,226 applications pending

In last 4 months, The number of approvals/denials ranges from 38 K to 52 K just around the the number of new applications.

Having said this, being an optimist, I expect the number of approvals/denials to increase further, but only time will tell.
