Hi all

I want to know how can i get a J2 visa for my spouse ?
I wasnt married when i applied for my DS-2019,so i did not apply for any dependant visa but now i am getting married in sometime..so how can i apply now,..do i need a separate DS2019 for my spouse.?
I will be getting my DS-2019 in about a week's time...after that how do i go about getting a j2 visa...?

Plz advise....it will be a great help...

Simple: once you are married you ask your sponsor (whatever office issued your DS-2019) to issue another one for your spouse. Your spouse then takes the new DS-2019 along with your marriage certificate to the US consulate to apply for a J-2 visa. Note that there is no mechanism I know of to obtain a J-2 visa if you are not married yet. Some sponsors are willing to issue a DS-2019 for a fiance/e with the caveat that it cannot be used until you are married (which is true since the consulate will still need to see a marriage certificate).

So I suggest you tell your sponsor ASAP that you are soon to be married and ask them about the possibility of a J-2 DS-2019 form. They may send you one now, or wait until they see proof of marriage. Either way, you will need a separate one for your spouse, and the consulate must see proof of marriage before issuing a J-2.

Hope this helps.
