J2 conversion to J1 - Is it possible?

Hi
I am in J2 visa and currently I got a job offer and they were trying to give me H1.
But I requested them to give me J1 so that my husband can get J2.
Is this possible J2 to J1 and vice versa.
We havenot applied for waiver yet as we are on 2 year HRR.
Please help us in this regard.

You need a waiver to change your status from J2 to J1 or H1. I also had the same situation and the letter from USCIS denied my status change from J2 to J1 mentioning that I need a waiver.

I have another doubt.
In case if I go back to India and apply as if new J1 is entering in a new program before my husband's J1 expires, is it possible?
And is it easy to obtain in the US consulate in India?
If someone has done please help me in this regard.
