Hello,
I came to USA 3 years ago on a J1 visa, we were a group of 15 teachers from India. Some of us had 212(E) stamped on our passport, some did not have it stamped. Later we all realized that the reason for 212(E) was that if we had any funding from US government or we were on the skill list.We did not fall into any of these categories. So all the teachers wrote to the program director in washington DC, explaning the situation that they wanted to waive off the 212(e) rule, so that we all can change our visa status to H1. All the other 12 teachers got a reply stating that they dont need to get a waiver from the home country and they can go ahead the change the visa status. But I have till date not recieved any reply from that person, I have send 5 leters to washington DC, requesting them for a reply as my visa is going to expire soon. Is there any way I can contact the person in washington DC? As they dont give any email or phone#s. I have been waiting for the past one year. My lawyer does not have clue as to what can be done. Or should I file a proper waiver from my home country.
