J1 waiver query...hadron and others please help

Hello
I am IMG joining surgery residency on J1
My fiancee is a img as well and presently doing her internship.
My question is as follows....
I will be done with 5 years with my surgery residency
My fiancee will hopefully get into residency in 2 years time and then she is planning to do internal medicine residency .
So after five years both of us would have finished our residency

My question is about the waiver
what would be my options (if any)

1. Do both of us have to do waiver jobs or can one do it and other become a dependant and if so will the dependant be allowed to work.

2. Is there any rule regarding who should do the waiver , i.e me because i signed for the initial J1 application

3. Is there any other good option available to me....like going for o1 (i have five years to work on my CV etc)

Ur wife can work on a J2 visa with work permit.If she goes on J1 then both of u will have to find a different waiver job.
Once u get a waiver job and get H1B then ur wife can also get the H1B seperately ( provided she passes step 3).
If u u move to O1 visa then she will move to O3 automatically and will not be able to work as O3 are not eligible for work permit.
If u are correct by the time u wife joins residency, u will still have 3 yrs to go and that enough time for ur wife to finish residency here in IM with J2 status and work permit. (try ur best to avoid her from going onto a separate J1 status)
