Hi..
I would greatly appreciate ,if some one could help me out ..
My friend is in US on J1 visa for the last one year..Hes been working for 1 year in a company. The same company had processed his h1 visa(2006 quota)and he got it approved by early July06'.But meanwhile his project got over on Sept06',and so now hes out of job.

My question is:

Will he be able to transfer the H1B visa to another company without any paystubs? What all is needed for his transfer?
He has all the paystubs for the time he worked under J1 visa. But he does not have any pay stubs under H1,bcoz his project got over b4 Oct06.Will there be any proble
m for the transfer??Is there any time limit??

There is a 30-day grace period for J-1 visa holders. This means that if his visa expired in September then he has 30-days in which he can legally remain in the U.S. or change status. If he has paystubs until September 1st, then he should have no problem changing status from J-1 to H-1B for an October 1st start date. Immigration will not expect him to have paystubs from his H-1B employer as his start date has not come yet.

Thanks so much for the answer...I think I didnt make my question clear.

My friends company had sponsered him a H1 visa..ie they changed his j1 visa to
h1 visa on early June 2006 and got a H1 visa approved for start date Oct 1st 2006.Now the question is

Will he be able to transfer his visa to another company without working for the company that sponsered his visa??
If He can ,when can he do it..should he wait till october 1st 2006??.

He has all the paystubs for the time he worked in j1.

Thanks ...Your advice would be really helpful..
