J1 status

Hi,
I am applying for wavier to change J1 to H1. What happens if my current duration on DS2019 expires before completion of wavier process at DOS? Can I extend my J1 (renew DS2019) while my case is till pending/under processing at DOS? Can any one please clarify.

Hi, I am also in a similar situation. My understanding is that once the DS-2019 expires and the waiver process has not been finalized by then, we have 30 days to leave the country. I do not think it is possible to further extend the DS-2019 while waiting for the waiver decision.

thanks for your information. I will extend my DS2019 before I file application for wavier with DOS. I think this will work.
