J1 overstay and 245(i)

I came in the US in 1995 with a J1 visa that expired in 1998 and had the 2-year HRR. I've never left US since '95.
I had applied for the green card through employment before April 31st 2001 in order to benefit from the life act 245(i).
I was overstayed which would've qualified me for that act. Does the 2-year HRR still apply? I couldn't find anywhere in the act any reference to this situation. Did anyone encounter a similar situation? What was your experience?
Thanks

Yes, J1 HRR still applies. Better to apply for wavier now based on no objection or government agency etc. Otherwise, your I-485 may not be approved.
