First of all, thank you all for posting valuable info on this forum.

I have been reading about J1 waiver. I also understand that J1 visa is primarily used for residency/fellowship or training in general.

Can it also be used for jobs? someone who has completed the training now just wants to work?

If yes, would waiver be still required although training is not done in the US but license is valid i.e. a Canadian physician.

Thank you in advance!

J-1 can be only used for trainign/research.
If you have finished training in Canada and are eligible for a license in a US state/territory you can work on a H-1 B visa.

Thanks for your response. From what I know its not that straightforward. Although, you can get the license in the US (about 40 states recognize Canadian credentials), you still need to take the USMLEs to be eligible for H1B..yeah, its strange. It seems only other option is direct GC. I was looking for some other visa as GC could take longer.
