I am an Italian student that is doing an exchange program in South Carolina. I am arrived in the US in August 2008 with a J1 (two year rule apply) that is going to expire in May. Since, I won again a place for study another semester in the US, I was wondering if the "two year rule" may be a problem. The american college print me a new DS-2019 that is identical to the first, but for the cover period that is from 8/17/2007 (this is when I arrived here the first time) to 12/20/2008. In addition, on the new one, under Purpose of this form is written "Extend an on-going program".
Who prepared this document explain me that with this form I can have apply for a new visa in Italy this summer.
I will appreciate if you can say me that all this makes sense and it is correct.
