I am on a J1 (student non-degree category) visa and my visa expires by 31st October 2008.
The maximum duration for a J1 (student non-degree category) visa is for 24 months.
I have had the visa for the past 12 months (from Nov 2007-October 2008).
I am looking forward to extend it for another 12months. I am moving to another university where the International office had told me that I have to go to my homecountry to apply for the extension.
I will be thankful if any one had done the same (of going back home for a J1 extension). If so, do please let me know and I will be very much thankful for your time and reply.
