 Hi J1's
I am an IMG from India and am finishing my J1 waiver in a few days.
I just started to check this website for J1 related news.
Although i have not been abused that much by my employer, that i had to look for a diffrerent job, but i know a lot of ppl. who have. Also after reading experiences people have had with J1 employers i am tempted to start a new thread, in which people who have been abused by their J1 employers should come and tell their experiences. Anonymously ofcourse ;)
Also I would encourage them to reveal their employers sites/ addressess/ names etc, (only if they feel comfortable doing that) so that other people can avoid such abuses.

I have seen amongst these greedy employers that they take undue advantage of J1 and even H1b visa holders. They make them work like a dog and earn all the money, while they play golf.

So all you J1's out there, share your experiences and save others from being abused.
AND remember when you become an employer someday, TRY NOT TO do this to anyone.

take care !! :)

Hi J1 crowd and future J-1 waiver seekers.
Have been in waiver buiseness long enough and seen at lot of friends go through with it.
Stay away from Desi solo practioner or groups. I have yet to see anyone coming out happy.
In looking for a waiver job look for bigger organization or hospital setup with structured calls, salaries. There is just endless potential for abuse and mental torture.

Well thats not always true.I did my waiver in Florida with a group practise owned by a Desi, never had any problems during waiver or while processing for Green Card.stayed even after getting my green card.Had to leave that practice because of personal reasons. :)

well "always" is the key term you used. I did not mean to stay 100% of desi employers will be bad employers. In addition you were in a group and not with a solo practioner which also makes difference.I have seen abuses from non desi employers as well but i have seen more unhappy people with desi practitioners than non desi employer.
