J-1 waiver

I found online that the US Department of State already sent a favorable recommendation to USCIS for my J-1 visa waiver on April 26, 2006. Now, I want to check my case status, but how to check it? I need the waiver approval letter to submit my H1b visa application. Many thanks for your kindness.
 
You should have gotten a receipt notice from USCIS with a case number. If you have the case number from USCIS, then you can track the status online at www.uscis.gov. If you have not received anything from USCIS, then I do not know what you need to do. I think some other people here had that problem. You may have to contact DoS to have them resend the recommendation to USCIS. I am not sure. Did you change your address recently?
