hello everyone,
i have been in the us for a year now on a J-1 visa (au pair, no 2 year homecountry residency requirement) and have been accepted by a graduate school couple of days ago.
my J-1 visa expires today and i can stay in the us for additional 30 days (grace period). in the meantime i will be issued I-20 and apply for an F-1 (change of status) but what if i don't get my F-1 visa before my grace period expires? am i supposed to leave the country?
