There is still a bill. What failed today was cloture on this bill. Democrats tried to make Republicans vote on the bill as is. Republicans want Senators on both sides to be able to present amendments and vote on these amendments. Cloture failed, meaning that this bill will be open to amendments and discussion. Obviously, on such an important bill, it is unrealistic to expect no amendments and to be voted as is.
All indications are that the Senate will work on this bill after recess.

what are you talking about.......
this bill is DEAD.....all indications are that the immigration bill "might" come up after the recess depending on the other pending bills in the senate.
lets stop fooling each other and not give any false hopes to anybody.
just going by the things that have happened in the senate in the last 2 weeks....i don't see any immigration bill going thru the senate.
