Its Official Now "House passes bill to split INS into two agencies"

Is it true.

I applied for AOS (I485) in Sep 14, 2001. I finished my finger printing on 2/22/02 and waiting for the final determination in my case. I applied at VSC and my catageory is EB2. My details are as follow:

RD:Sep 14th, 2001
ND:Nov 09th, 2001

I spoke with IIO and she said currently we are processing July 1 2001 case and I have several months to go. She said I will be considered November filer not Sep. I thought INS goes by received date please help. And how long it takes for me to get the green card. My company situation is not good and chnaces of survival is dim. I recently applied for EAD no receipt yet.

Don\'t panic

This is a bill that passed the House. I must pass the Senate and be signed by the president before it\'s even definite. AC21 passed a year and a half ago and we still don\'t even have implementing regulations for it. All AC21 did is make some changes, this thing would eliminate INS and break it in 2 parts. It certainly isn\'t going to happen tomorrow.

Not only that...

But Ted Kennedy is trying to come up with a bill that is
very different from the one that passed the House. That should
take some time. Then, the two bills will have to go to conference
to iron out the differences. That takes more time. THEN, the final
bill goes BACK to the House for final passage. So anybody
that hears that the House passed this thing by a wide margin take
note: the U.S. Senate is designed to slow things down. I expect
this to take months, if not a whole year before final passage.
(Unless there is another attack and/or another INS snafu.
Remember also: ONE Senator can hold the bill up if he does not
like it.
That\'s how much power the Senate has.
