At the very outset, let me express my sincere thanks to the site owners and the knowledgeable participants.
As has been the trend lately the Process was pretty predictable and in line with experiences posted by other peoples before...what i observed is that they blindly follow Packet 4 requirements w.r.t.the documentation no more and no less.......one scare i faced though was w.r.t. my marriage certificate ...i did not have the marriage registered, and was a little overconfident that i will be able to convince them based on loads of affidavit/photos and other stuff i carried in support of my marriage especially in the light of my being a primary applicant and me having a kid whose birth certificate showed me and my spouse to be married..
...
Anyway , they asked me to come back with the certificate from marriage registrar\'s office which I did....so i would advise people not to apply logic but blindly give them what they want...;-).
Other then this, they did not have any question about the paystub ( I have been on bench for couple of months and i didn\'t have any paystubs...)...tax returns/transcripts..(not asked for at all)...PCC ( I work in usa and live in canada....though i told him i have the local(mumbai) and canadian PCC too , he said he is interested in Indian consulate PCC only....) ....Job offer letter..( mine was a generic one showing the offer to be in line with I-140/Labor without mentioning the figure - I would advise people who have salary mismatch issue to use the standard format only ).
POE at Detroit was a breeze...stood in the line of Residents Aliens...the guy took fingerprints and signature and that was it..absolutely no questions asked... (No need to take trouble to carry the big Xray thru the flight...can be kept with checked luggage as POE people are not interested in it).
Would be glad to answer questions,if any.
Good luck to all.
P.S: for those new to the Consulate area and are looking to kill time especially between the interview and IV collection , there is a very nice sea facing park a little further and right to the consulate..same road..behind Raj travels Pavillion....
Also , the Standard chartered bank opposite to this park is a 24 hour bank which is very useful for making DD\'s....they even accept US credit cards for this purpose.
