Hi Folks,
I have received my greencard in the september'04 (just short of six months after 485 approval). I have got a very good opportunity to join a new employer. I know this has been a mind boggling question.
But, what do you suggest. Would it be safe enough to take the risk and change jobs. I have to accept the offer and join at a date that would just fall short 6 months by 5-6 days after 485 approval date.

Please give me your feedback.

Thanks a lot and all the best for all of you out there

Try to talk to your local lawyer thru aila.org's "Need a lawyer" link.
And they will tell you "6 months rule is a big BS"

There is nothing like a 6 month rule. Just go and join the new job.

Thanks a lot

Hi DSATISH,
Thanks a lot for getting back so quick. I agree with you and thats my gutt feeling too. Meaning that 6 mos is much better than 1 month or quitting next day.

Thanks again and have a great day.

I am joining after two months. We got the gc just for this flexibility. USCIS is not an agency which is working for the sponsering companies and foreseeing that we are with them for sometime. All they care about is we are not doing anything wrong with tha law and continue to pay taxes on our income. I think people can join next day also. NO problem.
Although this is my opinion.
