ITIN NO and SSN

my wife is on H4 and she has her ITIN number and not SSN.I have applied for I - 485 in which I have mentioned her ITIN no only but now she can get her "SSN- not valid for work " with her temperory driver\'s licence .Is getting an SSN will affect ON our I 485 as after getting that her ITIN no will automatically out of consideration.

please guide.

In first plance you should not have put ITIN in place of SSN. If you already have put ITIN in place of SSN, don\'t worry. When your wife gets SSN, ITIN will be replaced by SSN and for that you will have to call Federal Agency. As far as your I-485 is concerned, I think INS only asks for SSN, so that upon approval they can give your SSN to IRS and let them know of your status change.

Do not worry and if your wife can get SSN, go for it.Make sure you do call Federal Agency after you receive SSN so that they can update their records.

If your wife has EAD then why would she get SSN with not allowed to work on it as a note? Just curious.
