Hi,
I filed for my I-485 in september 2002, concurrently with AP and EAD while my I-140 still not approved.

Back then I was living in San Diego and thus gave them the SD address. Now I had to move to Bay area for job purposes and my mail still comes at the old address:

Some quick questions:

1. Am i better off filling for AR-11 for Change of address? My attorney said that I do not need to as he gets a copy of all the approvals and notices. What should I do?

2. Will my lawyer receieve AP and EAD? Or will INS mail it directly to me?

3. What about my GC? Will they mail it both places? If they mail it to my lawyer then I am good. But if they don;t, I am screwed.

4. How much extra time am I looking at if I do file an AR-11 for change of address?

I would really appreciate any comments or suggections....

Thanks,

Happy Diwali!

1. You are bound to file AR-11 within 10 days of your move by law.
You can file it now. Also, you can call the servicing centre and change the address when you get the receipt. You should do that in my opinion because AR-11 changes may take a long time to be effected in your application because of work volume.

2. INS will directly mail AP and EAD to you. They may or may not get forwarded.

3. Lawyer will get the original 485 approval notice and you will get courtesy copy. Plastic card will be mailed directly to you.

4. Depends on how soon you file it.

Hopefully this helps.

1. File AR-11. Chances are your form will be dumped in some cold storage, but legally you will do the right thing.

2. AP and EAD should be sent to you directly by INS, if lawyer has given your address on the form.

3. Mailing GC address depends what address you mentioned on I-485 form. You can get this address changed by calling an IIO on the phone ( I could never connect to an IIO BTW)

4. Extra time , assuming you are talking wrt address change, Should not be any. Some say INS gets suspecious and might issue an RFE. But noone knows for sure.
