My N400 is pending but lately I have been informed that the name on the B. Cert is what ultimately counts for naturalization. On my Birth Cert I have my name as (per Indian conventions) A. P____ (i.e., first initial followed by the last name).
On the GC, DL, Passport etc I have the full and correct names.
Has anyone corrected this in India? Is there a way to get an amendment issued to the birth certificate so that the name discrepancy goes away?
My concern is that if I get naturalized with the name as on the Birth Cert then I would have to go through the hassle of a name change here in the US.
