Issue with fingerprints

I have a problem of chapped hands and have had it since childhood. Recently when I went in for fingerprinting for my naturalization application the person that took my fingerprints said that she was not able to get good quality prints and most likely they will get rejected. She showed them to the QA person at the fingerprinting center and he agreeed with her. I asked what would happen next and she informed me that I would be called in again for fingerprinting after about a month. When I told her that this situation was likey to happen again as I have had this condition for a long time, she said that if they are rejected the second time, I will be asked to go into the local police station for obtaining documentation (I guess on my criminal background etc...) I am concerned that this is going to send my N400 application into a never ending delay. Has anyone out there experienced simmilar problem ? What is this procedure that needs to be followed at the local police ? I would appreciate any advice comments .

Thanks.

Why don't you call FBI to find out if your FP passed or have been rejected?
