Currently i am working in a MNC in india.
I am eligible to apply for canadian citizenship and i want to take it now.But i want to continue working in india for 2 more years.
My question is that can i save my job even after taking the citizenship in any way?..If i apply for oci card can i continue working without any work permit?.

plz plz guide me
Rahul

Yes. You can continue to work in India after acquistion of citizenship and getting the OCI. As a OCI holder you have the same economic and financial opportunities as an NRI and that includes going back to India to find a job and work as long as that job is not a government job.

thanks for the info man,but my problem is that currently i am living in india and doing job..is there any way by which i may not have to leave my current at all?...Because there will be a time when i get my citizenship and i have applied for oci card..in that period between these two will i have to leave my job?

Technically speaking, there will be a time when you can neither live in India nor work there.

On the day you acquire Canadian citizenship, you are no longer an Indian citizen (so you can't live or work there). You can obviously get a visa to move there, but until you get your OCI approved, you can't work.

Your best bet may be to apply for a work visa in the interim. That way you can start working in India and can apply for your OCI in India.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
