Is this sufficient?

So Finally I prepared the application to post. :-)

I am enclosing the following with my application.

1. Application
2. Green card copy (front and back)
3. Two Photos
4. Fees (Two separate checks - one for $260 and one for $50)
5. Traffic Violations (my explanation on plain paper and letters from city court clerks' offices telling me that there are no dues).

For my wife all the above except traffic violations since she does not have any.

Is there anything else we should enclose? Please let me know. Thank you and have a great weekend. Regards.

WouldBeCitizen,

My lawyer included copies of those pages of my passport that had my face and entry visa plus copies of I-94 and all approval notices that resulted in acquiring the GC.

In my opinion, I don't think you need to send the copies of traffic tickets. Just take them with you to the interview just in case they ask about them.

Hi
Thanks. I have decided not to include any other details like I-94 etc since they were very old (more than 6 years when I was a F-1 student). With green card they can find all our details right on the desktop screen.

If they need, I will send them later if they ask me. Also about the traffic voilations, it says 'if you said yes, please include an explanation'. Though not required, I just wanted to include those and be frank from step zero.

Let us see what happens. BTW I sent a message to you earlier. Please check and respond. Thanks and have a great day. Have you strated preparing for the interview yet ? :-)

My $0.02. INS accepts a single check of $310, which may be safer, in case they "accidentally" overlook one of the checks and send the application back saying incomplete!!

I too sent in a single check for $310. It was accepted and cleared in Oct.
It may be better to send a single check for $310.

I agree....I sent a single check for both the N-400 application fee and fingerprinting....($310).

Mine was a single check too. The idea is to make it as simple as possible for them, since they have to handle a massive number of applications.

I already wrote two checks. Should I tear them out and write another fresh one for $310 or send them as they are? :-(
TIA

Even I feel the same way about checks. Tearing it or not is your choice. I have friends who mark 'Void' on the checks. If I were you, I would have written a new check and already mailed by now :D :D

I decided to send different checks and posted them. The packet is already in post office. Two reasons for NOT changing two checks to one. I sent it "return receipt requested" mode. ($5.80)

1. I already wrote checks. INS is NOT that bad. I am lazy. The checkbook is at home and I am in office (Post office is 2 mins walk from work).

2. If INS does not find it good, they will ask me back. I wrote A # on each check I sent. So they can trace back easily. If all things go wrong, my application might be a bit delayed. I am in no hurry anyway. Anyway the processing would take at least 6 months (if done in 6 months I am lucky!). So why bother a lot?

The bonus is that, I will get to know what will go wrong, if any. Then I can post it here :-) just kidding. Let us see what happens now. I am in fray.

I have a time line already. LOL

N-400 sent (Nebraska): 12/29/2003
Return receipt received: ??
Checks Cashed: ??
Finger prints : ??
Interview: ??
Oath: ??

What else did I forget ? BTW should I prepare for interview right from now? Please let me know.

Bottom line : USCIS will process your application as long as you paid the total fees ($260 for N-400 + $50 for FP). Why would something go wrong? Lets be positive! :)

As far as your prep work for the interview, you can probably start reading up on the 100 questions, or browse through the online self test.... I am sure you will have ample time to do that....
