Is this an approval?

I was checking my friend’s case on the INS web page and saw a new type of message (at least new to me). It says:

“On March 31, 2004, the document we made based on the approval or registration of this case was mailed directly to the person to whom issued.”

My friend is out of the country so he was not able to check his mail.

Have you seen this type of message before? Is this an approval?

This was exactly my AP approval online statement.

What was the application for?

There is a remote chance that this is an approval

From past messages I have seen, at 3/4 out of 5 cases it is a letter ,and mostly some where close to approval. I have seen cases of RFE, 2nd FP or even nothing.

But most cases were close to approvals at least.

It is the most confusing message.

Mostly it may not be an approval.
This message means:
1. Change of address update
2. FP Notice - issued/ of FP recd. update
3. Approval in case of AP
4. RFE in case of AP
5. May be an rfe

Not entirely true, in my case, it was the courtesy copy of my 485 approval. So that message can be anything.

I don't think anybody knows what it is. Here is my case. I got the 485 approval letter. Then got passport stamped. For a couple of days after that I saw the same message you are asking about. Just did'nt know what it meant. After that it changed to "Card Ordered".

In your friend's case, hopefully its an approval.
 
in my case, it's FP notice.

what's your friend's RD/ND?

My message was changed to this after I got stamping done.

Most likely it is approval BUT DONT CELEBRATE AS YET - WAIT FOR THE LETTER.... BCIS makes mistakes on the status
