is this a suicide move?

I am on F1 visa and is in a graduate program in computer science. I
will graduate next year and all with most computer forks, the job
market is terrible. And i have to leave U.S upon the completion of 1
year
OPT.
I am thinking of applying for NIW after I
graduate if I still can not find a job by that time.
The approval may be difficult. But I think I
will be able to stay in U.S legally until the application is finally
denied or approved. And in the meantime I will get EAC and can work
legally. Then I will have more time to look for a job. And hopefully
the job market will improve in that time.
I am in Florida. So how more time will this move give me? I notice the processing time for NIW in texas is 8/8/2002. does it means it only take 1 year for INS to approve or deny my application? In that case, I will not help me a lot.

But I feel very unsure about the plan and not sure whether it
will
impact my application for H1 and green card if I find a job while
waiting for being denied by the asylum. Besides that, what negative
impact could this move cause on me? such as if I travel outside of U.S?
Again, I feel it is like a suicide move some how.
Thanks a lot for your advice. Pls help this suiciding guy!

Nowadays concurrent filings undergo quick screening immediately on arrival and if the case considered frivolous a notice of intent to deny issued (guess how they came up with this rule!). So if you file an NIW without any merit to it it may not help you at all.

Not only that, but you your F1 is in jeopardy because of immigrant intent.

agree with lamonte and brian

sometimes people with MS re-enroll back in Ph.D program if they lose the job or encounter other problems.
you will lose this opportunity once you file 140 and as you say that you are making the application only for ead, it might be more difficult for approval. also as lamonte said, all petitions are given a quick review before they will send you the ead/ap.
good luck for your future endeavors.
