my cousin's wife played the lottery when she was single, but got married before she got the letter, (like 3 months) then went for interview recently both of them were told to come back the next day, they went and had a written interview, after that, they were told they will be contacted, does anyone has an idea of what is happening..... i think they may deny them, pls shed light on this, thanks......is it normal to have 2 interviews?

That a little curious. When they got married before the 1st letter, there should be no doubt that the marriage is genuine and not because of the lottery.

What exactly is a "written interview", what were the questions?

Maybe I got it wrong.

You wrote

About which letter are we talking exactly? The letter with the date for the interview or the first letter where she was notified that she has won the lottery?

The whole case only makes sense when they got married after she received the first letter from KCC. If, this can make a case suspicious especially for applicants in the African region.
They should take care to find old photos, old utility bills in both names etc. to bring proof that the marriage was genuine!

My opinion !

a. Did your cousin's wife marry before she was notified of having won the lottery (ie. before the 1st notification letter )?

if this is the case, then there's absolutely no reason why they should probe for the authenticity of the marriage unless there are other cause for suspision.

b.If they got married after the 1st notification letter, then it is normal practice at least in Nigeria and most parts of Africa for them to establish that the marriage is genuine by cross-interviewing them. They will only be denied if there is substantial grounds for the consulate to prove that the marriage was green card motivated. I however stand to be corrected by other sensible opinions if i'm wrong.

Thanks !
