Is this a new rule about EAD Renewal ????

Yep, thats correct because it might take upto 6 months to complete the processing. My employer always files 6 months ahead of time. ;)

You could file it as early as 6 months before expiry of your current EAD.

I have been reading it in this forum that now USCIS is issuing new EAD/AP with effective start date 1 day after expiry of your current EAD and stays valid for 2/1 years(not sure about the validity duration) from the effective start date. In other words, you would not loose any time for being applying early so why not. :)

Has any one got EAD valid for 2/1 years ? I am also not clear what it means by saying " stays valid for 2/1 years(not sure about the validity duration) "
 
I don't think its new rule. Its there from lonnnnnnnnnnnnng time. I saw once and i panicked and applied EAD before 6 months and it was approved within 30 days. after that i applied before 90 days and it was approved within 20 days too. it may take upto 6 months... who knows


also ead is valid for 1 year only. what he meant was 1/2 year not 2/1 year
 
Better file it 6 months before and avoid unnecessary delays and sleep less nights!! Now a days VSC is issuing EAD's valid from the expiry date of the old EAD (I got the last one like that), so you wont be missing anytime, but might loose the EAD filing fee if your GC approves before that..

File it early and save your job!!
 
When did this new rule came into effect, I thought we have to apply on 90 days before, mine expires Feb 28th, I am applying immediatly in this week

this is insane :confused:

There are some categories like "(a) (18) - Spouse of L1" who gets EAD approval for 2 years.
