Is there Priority Date for I485 or not?!

I just called customer service 1-800 number, and told them the latest I485 processing date passed my priority date, which is on my I-140 form. But the representative told me 485 case do not have priority date, just has RD and ND. So they process cases by Notice date.

so I want to ask if this is true, why people talk about priority date for 485 all the time?
 
its true...485's do not have a prioroty date ... processing is done by RD/ND and visa availability

Yup thats correct...the reason to worry about priority dates is that you CAN NOT file the I-485 at all if your priority date is not current. So for those from retrogressed countries they can't apply for Advance Paroles or EAD's until they can file the I-485. Thats why the concern with Priority dates. Among other concerns.
 
my lawyer said that priority date retrogression for people already filed I485 (from india, china and phillipines) means that their 485 will NOT be processed until their PD is current. there is no PD on my I485 either but there was a PD of june02 in my I140 approval receipt.

Priority date just defines who qualify to file I-485 and after that it is first come first basis which means RD/ND.

I hope this analogy helps understanding better the PD/ND/RD concept with I-485.
