Is there any way to have a TN visa but also be a co-founder of a Canadian business? Or start own US-based business?

Hi everyone, I’ve been looking into potentially relocating to the US (WA) to also further my tech career. However, I have some Canadian businesses on the side I’m a co-founder of. Is there any way I can do both through the TN visa?

If not, is there a different visa I can apply for? What about starting a US business and also working a job in the US?

Hoping to see what kind of options I have as a Canadian business owner looking to relocate to US either through starting a US-based business or a job. Ideally, I’d like to be able to work a job and run some businesses on the side.

A TN status doesn't permit you to operate your own US based company.

I don't know if a status is required to run a Canadian company while residing in the USA, you'll have to look into that. But I do know that a TN status would not give that permission.
