Is there any harm to contact congressman about my case

I filed in Nov. 2001,

22 months pased, no any news, even 2fp,

I want to try to contact congressman, but I hear some people say that it might harm my own case, such as an interview, or other things.

Please help, anyone has this kind og experinece.

I had a very positive experience with a VA senator's office; the lady in charge was extremely nice and helpful and she kept contacting the BCIS office on my behalf and she even faxed me a copy of the I-485 approval letter.
I say thombs up!!!
