I am from one of non retrgessed country. My I140/485 was filed on Sep 12. I have not received the recipt number for I485. I got recipt number for 140 3 weeks back. After reading the forum i guess for my I140 it will take about 6 month from Nebraska. Is there any advantage for my 485 if i change my 140 to premium processing. Do they both process indpenedetly of each other or I140 approval makes any difference for the processing of 485.

Thanks for the advance suggestion.

485 will be approved only after 140 is approved.
485 usually takes years to process. It might make sense to do premium for 140 if you are NIW or something like that.

I-140 approval is a must in order to approve the I-485.

However, as far as processing is concerned, I don't see any relation between those two. For example, Finger printing and name check happens no matter your 140 is approved or not.
I am not 100% sure about assigning I-485 to an officer for adjudication, as final approval is dependent on I-140.

it is not true that I485 takes years to process nowadays. these days it takes less than 6 months to be approved if ur namecheck comes out fast otherwise u may wait for years. just wanted to clarify this matter.
