Folks, Just wanted to know if there is a time period before which you cannot apply for the 7th year extension... My H1 expires Dec 2003, my labor is in the 2nd stage and I have an acknowledgement. Can I apply for the extension now or I need to wait till August.... I wanted to make a trip to India in July would there be a problem coming back? looking for opinions...

I pressume you have a valid visa stamp in your passport? If this is true, then you shouldn't have any problems coming back from your India trip. Just make sure you carry recent paystubs, and employment verification letter with you, in case if you get questioned by BCIS at the Airport on your return.
Renewal petitions are normally filed 3 months before expiration of the current one. Most probably you should get your LC approved before you go to India
